The village manages to combine being a thriving rural community and a satellite for nearby towns and cities. Set amidst agricultural countryside yet within 30 minutes of Leeds and York and within easy reach of the Dales, Moors and Yorkshire Coast. We are but a 5 minute drive from the A1(M) and the M62. The M1 motorway is 8 miles distant.
With a population of approximately 1,500. The village has a thirteenth century church, a shop (with post office), a community centre two public houses and a hotel. We share a number of facilities with our adjoining neighbour Hillam, such as the Church and Community Centre.
